2. Charlie Struton (1989-2024)


Born in Brent, England on April 17, 1989, Charles George Strutton, fondly known as Charlie, was a beloved professional footballer whose journey began right here in Chalfont St Peter. Tragically, Charlie passed away on February 21, 2024, at the age of 34, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by the community.

Career Beginnings:
Charlie's footballing prowess was evident from a young age as he honed his skills within the Chalfont St Peter youth system. At just 17 years old, he was elevated to the first-team squad in 2006, where he remained until 2012. During his time with "The Saints," Charlie's goal-scoring abilities dazzled fans, with standout performances including a remarkable 25 goals in 32 appearances during the 2008–09 season. His contributions continued to soar, tallying an impressive 42 league goals in 64 appearances between 2010 and 2012.

AFC Wimbledon Journey:
In 2012, Charlie embarked on a new chapter, signing a short-term contract with AFC Wimbledon. While his time with "The Dons" was brief, it was filled with memorable moments, including his debut goal in the First Round of the FA Cup against York City. Despite facing challenges, including injuries and loan spells, Charlie's dedication to the game never wavered. His resilience shone through as he continued to pursue his passion for football.

Legacy and Honours:
Throughout his illustrious career, Charlie remained a beacon of inspiration for aspiring footballers in Chalfont St Peter and beyond. His contributions were instrumental in securing the Spartan South Midlands League title for our beloved club during the 2010–11 season. Beyond accolades, Charlie's impact transcended the pitch, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of fans and teammates alike.
